The project of Christmas animated movies on Netflix 2022
Netflix has revealed eight new European animation projects for this year, all of which will be shown at Annecy.
- The CG-animated film Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is being produced by British production company Timeless Films to get people in the Christmas spirit in December.
This retelling of the famous Charles Dickens tale, directed by Stephen Donnelly and featuring a new score by late composer Leslie Bricusse, has Ebenezer Scrooge confront his past as he seeks to construct a better future.
- CG-animated feature based on a same-name children’s book by author Richard Curtis is also slated to appear in time for the holidays, according to London-based Locksmith Animation (Four Weddings and a Funeral).
In the run-up to Christmas Day, the film is directed by Simon Otto (How to Train Your Dragon trilogy) and features the perspectives of several families, neighbors, and even Santa.
- Meanwhile, Superprod, a French animation studio, and Steve Box, a Wallace & Gromit graduate, have teamed up to make an animated comic heist film. In the untitled film, a band of stray cats disguises themselves as spoiled suburban pets in order to commit the largest heist of their life.
- Netflix has given the green light to three original animated projects: Bad Dinosaurs from Sanfu Pictures and Able & Baker in the UK; Mermaid Magic from Rainbow in Italy; and The Seven Bears from French film producer Folivari.
- Finally, for the streaming service, Sony Pictures Animation is working on a new Ghostbusters animated series. The plot is currently being kept under wraps, but Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, who just co-wrote the newest live-action Ghostbusters film Ghostbusters: Afterlife, will executive produce the project.

Angela’s Christmas (2017)
The movie’s goal is to make young viewers feel ecstatic and daring. And we’d all be horrified and scarred if they flew away and died. The characters ranged in personality from very pleasant to rather irritating and/or dislikeable.
Robin Robin (2021)
This new short film from Netflix meets all the criteria if you’re searching for some charming winter-themed stop-motion animation.
The makers of Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run have created a Christmas adventure.
The story revolves around a bird whose egg was knocked out of the nest before it could hatch. The bird is subsequently taken in by mice who become its family and rear it. It’s a sweet story about love, family, and the true spirit of Christmas. It’s a terrific animated film for the whole family to enjoy this Christmas, with top-notch animation, dialogue, and story.
